This policy explains what we mean by AI-made music, which tools and plans you can use, what is always forbidden and what you can expect from SONARA regarding rights.

01What “AI-made music” means on SONARA

A song whose audio was generated entirely with one of the accepted tools, on a paid plan.

  • Yes: lyrics generated by the AI, lyrics you wrote yourself (declared) or instrumental songs.
  • No: voices or instruments recorded by people, voice models of other people, or songs made on free plans.
  • A model of your own voice is only allowed if you ask us first and we verify your identity.

02Accepted tools and plans

This is the current admission matrix, read live from our database. We review it every quarter.

Live data

Suno

  • Accepted: Suno ProPlan must be active when generating and downloading.
  • Accepted: Suno PremierPlan must be active when generating and downloading.
  • Not accepted: Suno FreeOn the free plan Suno owns the song and only personal use is allowed.

Eleven Music

  • Accepted: Eleven Music Creator or aboveCreator, Pro, Scale, Business or Enterprise.
  • Not accepted: Eleven Music Free / StarterFree and Starter do not allow uploading to third-party platforms.

Mureka

  • Accepted: Mureka (subscription or purchased credits)
  • Not accepted: Mureka FreeOn the free plan Mureka owns the song (non-commercial use).

Google Flow Music

  • Accepted: Google Flow Music paid (Starter, Plus, Member or Google AI Plus/Pro/Ultra)
  • Not accepted: Google Flow Music FreeThe free plan is not known to grant commercial rights.

Stable Audio

  • Accepted: Stable Audio paid
  • Not accepted: Stable Audio FreePaid plans only until Stability clarifies.

Udio

  • Not accepted: All plansUdio's terms forbid publishing its songs on user-content platforms.

Other tools

  • Not accepted: All plansFor now we only accept the listed tools.
  • Why paid plans only. On free plans, several tools keep ownership of the song or only allow personal, non-commercial use. As SONARA is a contest with visibility and prizes, we treat it as commercial use.
  • The plan must be active when generating and downloading. A later subscription does not cover earlier songs.
  • Why not Udio. Its terms forbid publishing its songs on user-content platforms like SONARA.
  • Age. Several tools require users to be 18. On SONARA only adults (18+) can upload songs.

03What is always forbidden

  • Real people's voices. Cloning or imitating the voice of a singer or any real person without their consent. Spanish law protects each person's voice, name and image (art. 7.6 of Organic Law 1/1982).
  • Real people's names and image. Using them in the title, cover art, tags or description without consent, or presenting the song as if it were by a real artist.
  • Prompts with other people's material. Asking the AI for songs “in the style of” or “with the voice of” someone, or using artists' names, song titles, lyrics or audio belonging to others.
  • Other people's lyrics. Copying all or part of someone else's lyrics, even if an AI sings them.
  • Other people's recordings. Uploading commercial recordings, remixes of other people's songs or audio recorded from other platforms.
  • Faking provenance. Tampering with the file, re-tagging it to hide its origin or transplanting the digital seal of another song.

Remember: an AI song that copies a protected melody or lyrics is still an infringement, whoever made it.

04“Made with AI” label

  • Every song on SONARA shows the “Made with AI” label and the tool used to create it. You accept this label when uploading and it cannot be removed.
  • If the file's digital seal is valid, we say so (“AI verified”).
  • When a song plays in the background on the home page, the label is visible the whole time, not just at the start.
  • “AI verified” only means the digital seal is valid. It does not certify that the song is original or that you hold rights over it.

05SONARA does not train AI on your songs

  • We do not use your songs, lyrics or data to train or fine-tune artificial intelligence models, and we do not let others do so through SONARA. Several tools (such as Suno, Google or Stability) also forbid it.
  • We do use automated processes to check provenance and compare audio fingerprints. That helps us detect copies and duplicates; it is not training an AI.

06Collecting societies (SGAE, AIE, AGEDI…)

  • When you upload, we ask whether you are a member of SGAE, AIE, AGEDI or another collecting society.
  • It matters because, if you are, the society may manage the rights to your lyrics or performance, and its license may be needed for the song to play on SONARA, especially on the home page or at a live show.
  • In that case we may ask you for more information, or not use the song on the home page or at live shows until it is clarified.

07What SONARA does not promise you

  • We do not promise to “protect your work”. Under Spanish law, copyright protects creations by people (art. 5 of the Intellectual Property Law). So music generated entirely by AI is most likely not protected by copyright. Your own lyrics may be.
  • We do not register your song and we are not an intellectual property registry. The upload date on SONARA does not prove you are the author.
  • AI results can be alike. The tools themselves warn that someone else may get the same or a very similar result. Duplicates on SONARA are resolved under the contest rules (normally the first upload with verified provenance prevails).
  • We do not promise distribution. SONARA does not upload your songs to other streaming platforms, and some distributors do not accept music from certain AI tools.

08If you see something that breaks the rules

Use the Report form, even without an account. If you are the rights holder or the person affected, we provisionally remove the song within 48 hours while a person reviews it. More details in the Terms and conditions.

Other documents
